We accept Healthy Smiles Ontario
There is a common problem in the field of dentistry that we have observed over the years. Many dentists will turn away patients with certain forms of coverage, leaving them in a frantic search for treatment. At Dr. Steve Mocrae Dentistry, we proudly take on patients regardless of their type of coverage. Nothing brings us more joy than helping any child smile.
Below you will find some general information on the Healthy Smiles Ontario program, how you can apply, and what we can do to help. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us.
What is Healthy Smiles Ontario?
The Healthy Smiles Ontario program is designed to provide eligible children and youth who are aged 17 and under with free dental care. The program is designed for children with or without dental insurance. Even if you do have insurance for your children, the program will pick up the remaining balance not covered by insurance. Previously, children’s ODSP and the CINOT program provided coverage, but those have since been converted to the Healthy Smiles Ontario program.
How to apply for Health Smile Ontario
Parents and guardians can simply fill out a Healthy Smiles Ontario application form which we can supply in office. The application is short and approval happens typically within minutes. As the application states, if paying for dentistry or a portion of dentistry for a child will financially distress your family, then you will be eligible. Once approved, the program is generally good for one year, at which point the application needs to be renewed.
Healthy Smiles Ontario patients are treated no different
In our office, all patients are treated equally regardless of dental coverage. This means that while on the Healthy Smiles Ontario program, your child will have the same high quality protocol that we use for all of our patients. What is covered under Healthy Smiles:
- Checkups and cleanings
- Fillings
- Tooth extractions
- Root canals
- Sport guard once per year
- General anesthetic (sleep dentistry)
If you have a child who is 17 or under and paying for treatment (or even a portion of it) will financially distress your family, this program is right for you. For questions and to learn more, feel free to call our office and speak with Jeannie.
